Episode 155: Artificial Intelligence with Chris Waites

AI generated Tumblr fursona art prompted by Corinna Cohn

AI Art Director, amateur comedian, band-aid specialist, DEI hire, and street researcher Chris Waites returns to Heterodorx — now with 10% more white! After disclosing some shattering news from 23&Me, Chris shares his expertise on AI generated visual art (please follow along on his Instagram page). Is AI art actually art? Does it threaten human art jobs? What are the differences between models such as Midjourney and DALL-E? Are there hot redheaded men? Is AI a tool, or a medium? Why can’t AI imitate Nina’s style? Can redheads have souls? Who produces more crap: humans or AI? What’s the best way to write an AI visual prompt? Can a Pokemon consent? From Tumblr fursona artists to Google Gemini, the time of scarce content is over and a new era of head-spinning disorientation has begun. Bleeeep!

Episode 154: Judging US v Skrmetti with Judge TERF

Retired MA High Court Justice & WoLF legal powerhouse Elspeth Cypher returns to Heterodorx to discuss US v. Skrmetti, the Supreme Court case that could change the pediatric gender-industrial complex forever. Nina gives a “pedestrian viewpoint” of the hearing before superior legal minds Elspeth and Cori discuss  solicitor generals, attorney generals, constitutional chaos, differentiation, discrimination, Dobbs, Loving, quasi-suspect vs full suspect classification, the equal protection clause, differences between girls and boys, and sissy beer. Nina eventually gets to talk about her FEELINGS on suicidal ideation, the relentless annoyance of youthful distress, child abuse, un-adults, terrifying life processes, and the need to grow up and old. Then we hear Judge TERF’s predictions of the outcome (coming Spring 2025), and Cori reminds everyone he TOLD YOU SO.

Link: Episode 153: Next Year In Jerusalem?

Still on the path to conversion, Corinna updates us on his latest “Jew lessons” and why he kept the surname Cohn instead of anglicizing it to something like SparkleTree. We discuss the loss of oppression points for being Jewish; super-circumcision; antisemitism; and maybe visiting Israel someday. Meanwhile, Nina earns a subsistence wage sewing gloves, endures a Skyrizi On-Body Injector malfunction, talks to a robot, and looks like a grandma. Then we discuss Bluesky’s authoritarian moderation policies. Is telling the truth masochistic? Do liars know they’re lying? Are we losing a tranny, or gaining a Jew? Listen to this surprisingly wide-ranging episode to find out!

Episode 152: Post Election Derangement and Schadenfreude

LINK TO EPISODE BECAUSE SPOTIFY CHANGED THEIR WEBSITE YET AGAIN AND THE EMBED CODES VANISHED

Nina scrutinizes Cori’s Jewish pedigree and flaunts her own, while Cori compares Nina to Hitler and Kamala Harris to baloney. Then we discuss last week’s American presidential election! The suspense was killing us, but now we know who won (spoiler alert!) so we can stop compulsively checking our phones and breathe a sigh of relief and/or deranged terror. Cori reviews his history of voting Libertarian, dispenses advice for Democrats, bemoans his neighborhood Kroger, and warns, “all this hyperbole is literally gonna kill somebody.” Shalom, TREFs and Trannies!

Episode 151: Fear of a Woke Bike Mechanic

Nina’s social anxiety disorder impedes proper maintenance of her bicycles, while Corinna’s anti-social disorder compels him to empty an entire canister of dad jokes into the podcast. Are pronouns passé? What is the word for lonely bereaved former cat owners? How much can you round up pi? Plus Nina announces a significant lifestyle change, and shares intimate details about Judge TERF. Don’t forget to leave us a 5-star review unless one of us isn’t wearing a bra, and be sure to smash that “like” button!

Epilogue: the one non-woke bike shop in Nina’s town just got raided by federal agents for illegal firearms and explosives. I’m not kidding. Compelled pronouns or guns, those are your choices for bicycle repair in Champaign-Urbana.

Episode 150: Aaron Kimberly Look-a Like a Man

What happens when a butch lesbian who’s been on testosterone 18 years realizes she wants back into womanhood? Whatever it is, prepare for a tidal wave of masculinized women about to do the same. Can women accept women who look like men as their own? How many masculine visual cues (facial hair, baldness) can/will/should other women tolerate? Is this uncomfortable liminal situation the fault of (de)transitioners themselves, or is it everyone’s problem now? Aaron Kimberly discusses her own experiences post-T, including: irreversibility, male-passing forever, the crisis narrative of detransitioners, homophobia fatigue, and insensitive urinal jokes. Plus: turbo-butches, pink bows, the abstract vs the practical, giggling vs belly laughs, tiny heads, symbolic gestures, metoidioplasty, mental health, bowing out of groups, lesbian fashion compliance, Vancouver weirdos, fuzzy Birkenstocks, and elusive but desperately needed NON-affirming healthcare.

Episode 149: The Academic Freedom Closet with Cory Clark

The Dorx experience a proliferation of Cories as behavioral scientist Cory Clark shares fascinating observations about victimhood strategies, punishment, tribes, norms, taboos, hyper-cautious conformity, the ambition of academics, scrutiny of unpopular papers, self-censorship, socially costly beliefs, tenure, reputational threats, and socially desirable empirical conclusions that turn out not to be true. Nina signals her victim status as a canceled artist while morally judging cowards; Cori (Cohn) notes how errors in academia spread through society; and Cory (Clark) confesses she is a confessor to many a guilty and frightened professor. It turns out everybody wants power and status, even scientists! Maybe your co-hosts are doing it wrong.

Episode 148: Hurricane Gender downgraded to Tropical Depression Gender

Speaking of depression, Cori admits his but Nina sounds so cynically resigned maybe she’s depressed too. After discussing feline euphoria, free speech, hate speech, terrible presidential candidates, and men’s clothing, Cori reveals his misadventures trying to get actual medical care from endocrinologists who prioritize “gender identity” over human health. Nina brags about her postmenopausal testosterone-producing cojones and insists women are more than “estrogen containers”. We’re getting sick of talking about gender but no one will talk to us about AI, and if we continue insulting potential guests no one will talk to us at all. Is this the end of “content”? Listen and decide — but please don’t tell us.

Episode 147: Richard Hanania Hates His Audience

Political commentator and contrarian (but don’t call him that) Richard Hanania talks about his transition from callow supporter of Barack Obama through the fringes of Internet reactionary libertarianism and back to good old fashioned American conservatism, only to find that such a thing hardly exists any more. He tells us that Trump is bad, the Covid vaccine is good, and either extreme is prone to be wrong. Maybe the middle isn’t all that bad? Hanania steps on a copyright landmine, makes cartoon quips, and advocates for cultural changes that would be recognizable to grey-heads like Nina and Corinna who grew up in the 70s and 80s. Is he sincere, or is this a ploy to outrage his audience and expand his social media reach? You decide.

He discusses author communities, latinx armor, being both marginalized and having white privilege, crowdfunding for comics, Trump Derangement Syndrome, the twist of no twist, small presses, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Neil Gaiman, John Scalzi, the noncompliant majority, the swing of the political pendulum, alien pronouns, Revelation, bringing God’s kingdom on earth, Christian nationalism, and abortion vans. Cori reminisces about when science fiction was more libertarian, and Nina asks: what about the weirdos?
